Re: dried material
Tora,
I have recipe for Sanderson's mummification fluid which I have used on dried
out human tissue (time spent with a home office pathologist) and then
carried on with a routine paraffin embedding schedule. Can't say they will
be perfect but we did get some good results.
Sanderson's fluid
96% ethanol 30 parts
1% aq. formaldehyde 20 parts
50% aq. sodium carbonate 20 parts
We left the tissue for 24 hours and then checked regularly until they
looked, and felt, re-hydrated.
Another source of information is a book by Dr Rosalie Davis called the
Manchester Mummies. In this they reconstitute a hand from an Egyptian mummy
quite successfully.
Let me know if you want any more information.
