if you intend to use an FDA approved method to demonstrate Her 2neu in those specimens you will need to follow the manufacturers fixation requirements in order to avoid violating the intent of the FDA approval.

Does anyone have a procedure for Her-2 on smears or cell blocks? . Will
fixation in 95% alcohol  of smears for Her- 2  affect the
staining? How about  cell blocks fixed in 95% alcohol?  Any information is
