RE: Sorvall 45700 Glass Knife Maker
From: | "Monson, Frederick C." |
Hi Margaret,
If that is the little, but heavy, rectangular cube, it's purpose is
to break triangular glass knives for the JB-4. I think EMS still markets a
similar knife breaker with its version of the JB-4. Steve Slap (Hacker
Instruments) may have the definitive answer to this one. The JB-4 was
intended to use 1/2" glass knives for cutting semi-thin sections from
glycol-methacrylate (GMA) embedded tissues. I did use that knife breaker
for 6mm triangles for ultramicrotomy, however, and they always seemed to
work for that purpose. If you are looking for a manual, I think EMS can
provide one.
Regards,
Fred Monson
