Danger of explosion?
Dear Melissa and histonetters,
I read your answer to Deb Lane about benchtop fume hoods and I have another
question concerning xylene in electric devices: Is there any security
problem with highly flammable liquids as xylene and "normal" fume hoods or
incubators that are not explosion proof? I recently bought an incubator in
which we will melt a paraffin-xylene mix to 60°C. The room inside is not
explicitly stated as free of sparks. Does somebody else consider this
security problem - or can I just ignore it?
Yours
Sylvia
