Cover flourescence ?

We are using Rhodamine microspheres to label rat brains.  Got great
labelling - - coverslipped with DPX and lost half of the signals!!!
HELP!  Is it the xylene?  Any suggestions  as to what to use for
mounting medium on flouresence?
