John, yes, spurr becomes brittle after microwaving, HRLM & TEM sectioning
cannot be fast-one has to go into amber spurr/epoxy blocks slowly/gently,
that is why unless it is an absolute stat, we prefer to polymerize at 90oC
(you can use beem capsules, bojak mold does not have to be used) and then
HRLM section and then TEM section. And no, 90oC polymerization is not
brittle. Teresa
