Tina Cahak at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin asks about
artifacts in prostatic needle biopsies, possibly the result of two hour
processing.
Why is such rapid processing needed? The patient doesn't need a fast answer,
he needs the right answer, and processing should be optimal. You should be
cutting at least three H & E sections, and three additional sections onto
suitable slides to do a high molecular weight cytokeratin stain on the - at
least - 5% of cases that require it.
