Tery Hacker tells us that chloroform is carcinogenic, and that we should stop using this excellent fast fixative, and indeed that we should discard the prince of fixatives, mercury.
Perhaps discard was a poor choice of phrase.

Oh come on Tery, don't be such a spoilsport. I've wallowed in the stuff, used 'Dabitoff' on all my stains, and I'm sure that the relatively small exposure has, if any harm, a negligable harm.
Could go on at length about the benefits, but would be late for my chemotherapy appointment.
