Dear Amos
Some acids do enhance staining, we have done this for years in blood banking, 
some are also ruined from acid, just like some are heat susceptible and some 
like
enzymes.Not sure why, but as always a condition of trial and error, of course 
with the emphasis on error.                          Dana
