Rande,
I do not have a copy of the 2nd edition of Staining Procedures.
However, I do have a hand-typed copy of a Gram-Weigert positive stain
that probably is older than I would like to admit!! Both gentian violet
and crystal violet are primarily used in gram-positive stains. My
procedure utilizes crystal violet and is a modification of the
Brown-Brenn method. If you would like me to fax you a copy, please let
me know. As for Verhoeff's Carbol Fuchsin, it is in Selected
Histochemical and Histopathological Methods, p. 1032 (1966). I can make
you a photocopy of that as well if you do not have access to this book.
This is a lengthy protocol and I just do not have the time to include it
with this e-mail.
