Hi Jim,

We have 2 Ventana immunostainers and were treating the waste with bleach,
letting it sit for 24 hours and then pouring it down the drain. Recently,
upon looking into a DAB filter waste system and consulting with our
University Safety Department we were told that the DAB was so dilute that
there was no problem letting that go down the drain untreated. However,
they did have a problem with the Coverslip Oil going down the drain. So now
we drain off the aqueous portion of the waste into the sink until we're down
to the coverslip layer. This we drain into a carboy that the safety
department picks up from our lab upon request.

We were concerned about the wrong chemical all along. Go figure!
