Sally,
At our hospital we run the immunos down a modified counterstain program on
our Sakuras after the Nexes is finished with them. Our docs do not like the
Ventana hemo at all, so we lightened up our routine hematoxylin counterstain
by a minute or two, and just run 'em down the stainer. We use Richard Allen
hematoxylin, but I am at home and don't remember off the top of my head
which one. If you would like to know, contact me and I will find out.

We were wondering what type of counterstain do you use on your
instrument...Do you use Ventana's hematoxylin or a homebrew? We have been
using a homebrew-diluted commercial Harris hematoxylin. Our diluent is
composed of 128 mL Type 1 water, 60 mL 20% polyethylene glycol, and
12 mL glacial acetic acid. Since we feel the diluted stain is fading too
much in the dispensers, we're kind of looking for a replacement protocol.
We would welcome any and all suggestions!
Thank you!
