0.1% thionine or 1% chlorazole black E in 70% alcohol usually works well
on sections of onion root tip made with a razor blade.

Subject: An easy stain to show kids

Hi Everyone in Histoland:

Our workplace is having a bring your kids to work day and we are doing the
microscope lab. I need suggestions on an easy(one step) stain to do on
plant tissue. So far we're having kids look at stomata, algae and
earthworms. Any other ideas on histo activities to do with kids would be
greatly appreciated. We have 13 kids who range in ages from 8 to 14.

Thanks
