Actually we found the plastic racks to be more level than the metal racks.
We have had a problem with slide breaking due to the slide etcher we use. We
got over that in part by returning racks until we got some that worked (for
one machine) and simply turning slide around to the non-etched end fit into
the rack (for the other machine). We also plan to file the slide holding
piece a bit.
The plastic racks are too flexible but DAKO is working on a metal
reinforcment for that problem. We don't wash them but simply rinse with
water and run the clean cycle at least once a week.
We find the DAKO machine to be much more reliable in terms of slide drying
than the Optimax we have. We rarely have slide drying on the DAKO machine
and often do on the Optimax.

Hi,
We have had a few pain in the ___ problems too but in all fairness the
company has been very good about replacing them. They even modified the
racks they gave us. Let DAKO know the problem and they will probably be of
some help to you. (If not send them to me :-) haha.) I think the plastic
racks tend to warp a little if they are washed in hot water.

DAKO autostainer? We cannot seem to get them level, if one slide position is
level another is not. This has been the cause (we think) of non-specific
staining on corners ofslides that were so tilted that when the DAB was
applied it ran off and that corner air-dried. Anyone other DAKO autostainer
users noticing this? Thanks, Sandosis
