.	Yes, Gayle - that is correct.   Our procedure calls for dosing the
anesthetized animal with Heparin (350u/kg) and lidocaine( 2mg/kg) by
intravenous method to prevent blood clotting and promote vasodilation,
respectively.  The animal is then euthanized and, after catheterization of
the artery and vein, hepranized saline (2000 units per liter of saline) is
pumped in until the venous catheter runs clear.  The catheter is then
changed to fixative of choice (3-5 liters of each solution for a 60 pound
animal).
