What were you planning to stain for? The sigma kit we use is for the
demonstration of neutrophil granules in blood or bone marrow films. We use
Oil red O for fats. The Sudan Black B kit we use from Sigma is cat# 380-B.
The principle of the test says that "several lipids including phospholipids,
neutral fats and sterols are stained intensely by Sudan Black B." Even for
our Oil Red O we don't use FFPE tissue because the fats are destroyed by the
processing. Hope this helps.
